Duncan and Bell first settled, ca 1835, on River Denys Mountain, sold their farm lot in 1851 and next appeared on Dunmore Road, Port Hood, in 1858. They lived on the lot adjacent to and East of Probate Judge, John Lewis Tremain. In 1871, Duncan and Bell moved to Mull River to live with their youngest daughter, Catherine, and her husband, James Stokes Beaton.²
