  An old landmark – Mr. John McLellan (big), of Rear Upper Margaree, Inverness Co. – passed away to his eternal reward on Tuesday, the 9^th inst., at the advanced age of 94 years. The deceased came to this country from Inverness-shire, Scotland, some sixty years ago, and began the toll-some task of converting the “forest primeval” into a cheerful home, and by dint of unremitting labour and scrupulous honesty succeeded admirably. His house was always open to the stranger and was the personification of true genuine hospitality. During his illness he was frequently strengthened by Sacraments of Holy Church. His mortal remains, which were followed to the cemetery by a large concourse of friends, were laid beside those of his faithful spouse who died on the 30^th of November last. He leaves one sister (Caitriana Bhan), seven sons and one daughter, together with a number of grandchildren and some great-grandchildren to mourn his loss. R. I. P.³
