  On Oct 15th, 1899 at Kennebunk, Maine, Mr. Peter A. MacFarlane, 27 years, an employee of the Sanford and Cape Porpoise Street Railway Co., while at work on a pole, came in contact with an alternating current of 10,000 volts. The short circuit caused him to be thrown off of the pole to the ground, a distance of 30 feet, and death ensued after four hours of intense suffering . The inquest where (sic) the remains were taken to Cambridge, Ma. and on Wed. Oct. 8, (sic) the funeral took place from the home of Mr. Duncan Gillis, 21 Harrison St. of St. Mary's Catholic Church, where a High Mass of Requiem was celebrated by Rev. Father R. Ley ??
  The remains were taken to St. Paul's Roman Catholic Cemetery, Arlington, and were followed by a large number of relatives and friends.
  The deceased was a native of St. Andrew's Antigonish Co., N. S., son of the late Angus MacFarlane, of that place. He leaves 3 sisters in Boston.⁸
